Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples. Insert popsicle sticks into the stems.
  2. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Cook over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil without stirring. Use a candy thermometer to monitor the temperature.
  4. Once it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage), remove from heat.
  5. Add food coloring and vanilla extract, then stir quickly.
  6. Dip each apple into the candy mixture, coating evenly.
  7. Place apples on a greased baking sheet to cool and harden.
