Description

A comforting dish of tender chicken and fluffy dumplings cooked slowly in a rich broth.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups of chicken broth
  • 1 pound of boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup of carrots, chopped
  • 1 cup of celery, chopped
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cups of frozen peas
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of thyme
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 2 cups of biscuit dough (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Place chicken breasts in the bottom of the crockpot.
  2. Add broth, carrots, celery, onion, peas, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours.
  4. Remove chicken, shred it, and return it to the pot.
  5. Drop biscuit dough by spoonfuls onto the top of the mixture.
  6. Cover and cook on high for an additional 30 minutes or until the dumplings are cooked through.

Notes

  • For a thicker stew, add a slurry of cornstarch and water.
  • Feel free to substitute vegetables as desired.
  • This dish freezes well for later meals.
