A creamy and cheesy southern mac and cheese without using a roux.
Ingredients

- 8 ounces elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook macaroni according to package instructions; drain.
- In a large bowl, combine cooked macaroni, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, milk, sour cream, butter, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Mix until well combined.
- Transfer mixture to a greased baking dish.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until bubbly and golden on top.
Notes
- Use your favorite cheese for different flavors.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Add breadcrumbs on top for a crunchy texture.
