Ingredients

- 1 lb elbow macaroni
- 4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 cups milk
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
Instructions
- Cook the macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
- Whisk in flour and cook for 2 minutes.
- Gradually add milk while whisking to prevent lumps.
- Cook until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Add cheddar and Parmesan cheese, stirring until melted.
- Combine cheese sauce with macaroni and mix well.
- Transfer to a baking dish and bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- You can add breadcrumbs on top for a crispy texture.
- Feel free to mix in cooked bacon or vegetables.
