This air fryer tofu recipe results in crispy, golden-brown cubes that are perfect for adding to salads, stir-fries, or enjoying as a snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 block (14 oz) firm or extra-firm tofu
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: sesame seeds and green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Press the tofu: Wrap the tofu block in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy object on top to press out excess moisture for about 15-20 minutes.
- Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, cornstarch, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Add the tofu cubes to the bowl and gently toss until all the pieces are well-coated in the marinade.
- Transfer the marinated tofu into the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd.
- Air fry for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking to ensure even crisping.
- Once the tofu is golden brown and crispy, remove it from the air fryer.
- Serve warm, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can marinate the tofu in the soy sauce mixture for 30 minutes before air frying.
- Experiment with different seasonings like paprika, chili powder, or nutritional yeast for varied flavors.
