Ingredients

  • 1 block (14 oz) firm or extra-firm tofu
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: sesame seeds and green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Press the tofu: Wrap the tofu block in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy object on top to press out excess moisture for about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, cornstarch, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix well.
  5. Add the tofu cubes to the bowl and gently toss until all the pieces are well-coated in the marinade.
  6. Transfer the marinated tofu into the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd.
  7. Air fry for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking to ensure even crisping.
  8. Once the tofu is golden brown and crispy, remove it from the air fryer.
  9. Serve warm, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can marinate the tofu in the soy sauce mixture for 30 minutes before air frying.
  • Experiment with different seasonings like paprika, chili powder, or nutritional yeast for varied flavors.
