Description
This crispy air fryer chicken recipe gives you juicy, tender chicken with a perfectly crispy coating. It’s quick, easy, and perfect for busy weeknights!
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 chicken thighs, bone-in, skin-on
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Non-stick cooking spray
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Add chicken thighs and marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight in the refrigerator.
- In another bowl, mix flour and baking powder. Remove chicken from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off, and dredge in the flour mixture until fully coated.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray.
- Place the coated chicken thighs in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overcrowded. Spray the tops lightly with cooking spray.
- Cook for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C).
- Remove from the air fryer and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For extra crispy chicken, double dredge: after the first coating of flour, return the chicken to the buttermilk and then coat again in the flour mixture.
- Feel free to use chicken breasts or wings instead of thighs, adjusting the cooking time as necessary.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce or side dishes.
