This easy and delicious overnight French toast casserole is perfect for a breakfast or brunch gathering! Just prepare it the night before and pop it in the oven in the morning.

- 1 loaf of French bread, cut into cubes
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar for serving (optional)
- Fresh berries for serving (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Place the cubed French bread in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Pour the egg mixture over the bread, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Gently press down on the bread to soak up the mixture.
- Cover the dish with foil and refrigerate overnight (or for at least 4 hours).
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Remove the casserole from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes.
- Bake the covered casserole for 30 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- Drizzle with maple syrup and dust with powdered sugar before serving. Top with fresh berries if desired.
