Ingredients

  • 1 box of strawberry cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 box (3 oz) strawberry jello
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the strawberry cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until well blended.
  3. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  4. While the cakes are baking, prepare the strawberry jello by dissolving the jello in boiling water. Stir in cold water and let it cool.
  5. Once the cakes are done, let them cool for 10 minutes in the pans, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Once cooled, slice each cake in half horizontally to create 4 layers.
  7. Place one layer on a serving platter and pour 1/4 of the prepared jello over the layer. Let it soak in.
  8. Spread a layer of whipped cream over the jello soaked layer and top with fresh strawberries.
  9. Repeat the process with the next layers, ending with a plain cake layer on top.
  10. Frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining whipped cream and decorate with additional strawberries.
  11. Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving for best results.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can add a layer of cream cheese frosting between the layers.
  • Feel free to use other flavors of jello and cake mix for different variations.
