Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box of strawberry cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 box (3 oz) strawberry jello
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup cold water
- 1 cup whipped cream
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, combine the strawberry cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until well blended.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- While the cakes are baking, prepare the strawberry jello by dissolving the jello in boiling water. Stir in cold water and let it cool.
- Once the cakes are done, let them cool for 10 minutes in the pans, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, slice each cake in half horizontally to create 4 layers.
- Place one layer on a serving platter and pour 1/4 of the prepared jello over the layer. Let it soak in.
- Spread a layer of whipped cream over the jello soaked layer and top with fresh strawberries.
- Repeat the process with the next layers, ending with a plain cake layer on top.
- Frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining whipped cream and decorate with additional strawberries.
- Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving for best results.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, you can add a layer of cream cheese frosting between the layers.
- Feel free to use other flavors of jello and cake mix for different variations.
