  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • Powdered sugar for serving
  • Fresh berries for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  2. Add the bread cubes to the egg mixture and gently fold until all the bread is coated.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  4. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  5. In the morning, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Remove the casserole from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes.
  7. Drizzle the maple syrup over the top of the casserole.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the casserole is puffed and golden brown.
  9. Let it cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar and top with fresh berries if desired.
