This Overnight French Toast Casserole is an easy and delicious breakfast dish that can be prepared the night before. Perfect for holidays or gatherings!

- 1 loaf of bread (French or challah), cut into cubes
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- Powdered sugar for serving
- Fresh berries for serving (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Add the bread cubes to the egg mixture and gently fold until all the bread is coated.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
- In the morning, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Remove the casserole from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes.
- Drizzle the maple syrup over the top of the casserole.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the casserole is puffed and golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar and top with fresh berries if desired.
Notes
- You can customize this recipe by adding chocolate chips, nuts, or fruit to the bread mixture before baking.
- For a richer flavor, use brioche bread instead of French or challah.
