  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

This prime rib roast recipe ensures a perfectly juicy and flavorful centerpiece for your holiday celebrations. With a stunning crust and tender meat, it’s the ultimate dish for impressing your guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (5-6 pound) prime rib roast, bone-in
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Remove the prime rib roast from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for at least 1 hour before cooking.
  2. Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C).
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, garlic, rosemary, thyme, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper to form a paste.
  4. Rub the herb mixture all over the prime rib roast, ensuring even coverage.
  5. Place the roast bone-side down on a rack in a roasting pan.
  6. Roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes to develop a crust.
  7. Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue roasting for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium).
  8. Remove the roast from the oven and transfer it to a cutting board. Cover loosely with foil and let it rest for 20-30 minutes.
  9. Meanwhile, place the roasting pan over medium heat on the stovetop. Add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, scraping the bottom of the pan to deglaze.
  10. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it reduce slightly for about 5-10 minutes.
  11. Slice the prime rib roast and serve with the pan sauce.

Notes

  • For best results, use a meat thermometer to monitor the internal temperature of the roast.
  • Letting the roast rest is crucial for juicy meat as it allows the juices to redistribute.
  • Feel free to customize the herb mixture based on your preferences.
